"984 W. 124th Street, Apt. 5C" is the second Christmas episode of the CBS sitcom The Jeffersons, aired in the show's fourth season.

Synopsis

It's the Christmas season and the first wedding anniversary of Lionel and Jenny. However, George is sneaking around sending gifts to a mysterious address in Harlem. This leads Louise to follow him and she is shocked at what she discovers.

Arriving at the address just before George, Louise catches him dropping off a gift outside an apartment door. Arguing once he realizes she's there, the couple is interrupted by a young boy from inside the apartment. Louise briefly suspects, but just as quickly, dismisses the thought that the boy might be George's love-child. Meeting the boy's parents, George reveals that he and his parents had once lived in the same apartment when George was very young (presumably, before he met Louise, or else she would have recognized the place), and times were hard. The couple reveals their own fortunes have taken an upturn, with a mysterious gift-giver leaving enough to help them train to get better jobs and soon move out of the dilapidated area. Taking their leave, Louise asks George why he leaves these gifts, to which George responds he once took a vow that, if he had the means, he would make sure that there were no more hard Christmases in that apartment. As she often did when George exposed his softer, more generous side, Louise kisses and hugs her husband as they rejoin their family for the Christmas season.
