Ash Ketchum (Japanese: サトシ Satoshi) is the protagonist of the Pokémon anime series. Based loosely on the character Red from Pokémon Red and Blue, he is a young boy who has always dreamed of becoming a Pokémon Master. As soon as he turned ten years old, he rushed to Professor Oak's Laboratory to get his first Pokémon. Originally wanting to choose the other three starter Pokémon, Ash ended up getting the Pokémon Pikachu, and left on his journey.

In the Codename: Kids Next Door episode "Operation: N.A.U.G.H.T.Y.", when the Delightful Children from Down the Lane take control of Santa's REINDEER system, a kid resembling Ash (who had previously appeared in an earlier episode) is pictured in one of the tiles.
