Adominable Christmas Poster

Abominable Christmas is a direct-to-video Christmas movie, originally released on DVD (sold exclusively at Walmart) and iTunes on October 23, 2012, before making its television debut on Cartoon Network on December 3rd of the same year.

Synopsis

Abby Abominable, an abominable snowkid, wants to celebrate her very first Christmas like humans do, despite the warnings of her father and the concerns of her brother, Adam Abominable. Their father hopes to protect them from Margaret Knowhow, a nasty scientist obsessed with proving the existence of the Abominable Snowman. While out hunting for any signs of yetis, the kids are unintentionally spotted by Margaret, but they luckily manage to escape from her.

They happen upon a human home, inhabited by a family known as the Winterbottoms, consisting of a little girl named Lilly (who appears to be the only responsible family member), her older brother Matt (who is so absorbed in his laptop and headphones that he pays no attention to what’s going on around him), and their workaholic father. This gives Abby an idea. In order to hide themselves from Margaret, they will hide with the Winterbottoms, posing as a couple of dogs. Lilly spots the two yetis, and mistaking them for a couple of dogs, she lets them in and asks her father if they can have dogs; which he, much too involved in his phone call, randomly agrees. However, it isn’t long before Abby accidentally blows hers and Adam’s cover, but instead of being terrified, Lilly is excited to be in the company of two abominable snowkids.

Abby, Adam and Lilly decorate the Christmas tree, only to be interrupted by a knock at the door. It’s Margaret, still looking for the yetis. She explains that she’s looking for “furry, white creatures,” to which Mr. Winterbottom dismisses her. He compliments Lilly on decorating the tree, but he then finally notices the snowkids. Lilly begs with him not to give Abby and Adam over to Margaret, to which he complies, stating that they can stay until he finds who they belong to. In the meantime, Abby, Adam and Lilly help themselves to sugary sweets and dance to music on the radio, to which even Mr. Winterbottom joins in. Later on, Lilly even goes sledding with the snowkids.

Meanwhile, after catching some fish for dinner, the Abominable Dad discovers that his kids are missing and that they might be in danger after discovering Margaret’s bootprints in the snow. He poses as dog himself and sets out for the town to find them before anything terrible happens to them. Unfortunately, he is caught by the local dogcatcher and taken to the animal shelter. There, he tries to escape, but to no avail. Margaret comes in, informing the dogcatcher of some missing “animals.” The dogcatcher tells her that she must fill out the necessary paperwork, much to Margaret’s irritation.

Dad sees his chance to escape when Al, the dogcatcher’s lazy co-worker falls asleep and leaves the cage unlocked. He sneaks out, donning Al’s Santa suit as a disguise to avoid detection, especially from Margaret. Before he knows what’s happening, he’s suddenly tasked with the responsibility of posing as Santa Claus for the children. Lilly, Mr. Winterbottom and the snowkids happen to be out walking at that time, and the kids notice their father. They’re once again spotted by Margaret, who gives chase. Noticing his children being chased by the evil woman, Dad abandons his post and goes after them.

Suspicious and furious over Lilly running away for no apparent reason, Mr. Winterbottom demands an explanation. Abby finally speaks up, standing up for Lilly, much to Mr. Winterbottom’s surprise. After hearing of the kids’ plight, he decides that the best thing to do is to get Abby and Adam back with their father. The dogcatcher arrives with Margaret, telling him of a report of missing animals. Mr. Winterbottom comforts the snowkids, promising he’ll get them out of the pound as soon as possible, and that it’s the only they’ll be safe from Margaret.

After Abby and Adam are taken away, Dad shows up. They tell him about the kids situation and they set out to rescue them. Lilly wishes to help, but they tell her to stay with her brother. Lilly, out of frustration, asks her brother to pay attention to what’s going on around him for once, to which, much to her surprise, he does. He tells her he’s been blogging about the snowkids the whole time, and he agrees that their father will botch their attempts to rescue them.

Mr. Winterbottom and Dad head to the animal shelter and attempt to spring Abby and Adam only for the dogcatcher to tie them together and lock them up with the kids. Margaret arrives, hoping to finally claim the yetis for herself. Lilly and Matt arrive to stop her, handing the dogcatcher the necessary paperwork, thus granting ownership of the yetis to the Winterbottoms. Margaret tries to stop them, threatening them with a can of flea spray, but she’s ultimately foiled by Abby (knocking her into a shelf, causing a pile of pet food cans to fall on her) and the dogcatcher (holding her at bay with a taser). The Winterbottoms and yetis take their leave, the police arrive shortly after and Margaret is arrested.

Lilly invites the yetis to share Christmas dinner with her family. Adam and Matt watch Margaret’s humiliation on his laptop, and Abby gives Lilly a puppy from the animal shelter as a thank you gift for all that she and her family have done for hers.
