Hans the shoemaker is lonely and grumpy, and not very nice to the people in his village. He also doesn't like Christmas. He is visited by an angel who tells him to expect a special gift from God for Christmas. His attitude changes overnight; he becomes friendly and makes a beautiful pair of red leather boots to display in his shop window. But when Christmas Eve comes and his gift has not yet arrived, he begins to fall back into his former grumpy attitude. Can he figure out what the special gift was before he loses his faith?
