Speedy in The Looney Tunes Show

Speedy as he appears in The Looney Tunes Show.

Speedy Gonzales is a character from Warner Brothers' Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoon shorts. He is an anthropomorphic rodent described as "The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico". As his name suggests, he possesses the ability to run extremely fast. He had a completely different design in his debut cartoon, the 1953 short Cat-Tails for Two, directed by Robert McKimson. Under the direction of Friz Freleng, Speedy was redesigned and reintroduced two years later. In the shorts that followed, the character often uses his speed to come to the aid of his fellow mice whenever they need help obtaining food from an obstacle, usually in the form of Sylvester the cat (and Daffy Duck in the later half of the 1960s).

Appearances in Christmas specials

Speedy makes a brief cameo in the "Fright Before Christmas" segment of Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales. When Bugs Bunny is reading the story of The Night Before Christmas to his nephew Clyde, Speedy is shown stirring a cup, saying that the line "Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse," is technically incorrect.

In Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas, Speedy is an employee of Daffy's Lucky Duck megastore. He is shown working in the gift-assembling department, where it is shown that he is very good at assembling toys at a very quick pace.

Speedy also appears prominently in The Looney Tunes Show Christmas episode "A Christmas Carol". In the episode, Lola Bunny gets him to play a role in her own stage production of A Christmas Carol.
