Talk:Santa Claus

From Christmas Specials Wiki

[edit] same voice

Is it safe to say that the Paul Frees voiced Santas in Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph's Shiny New Year are the same representation of the character? How about the Mickey Rooney voiced Santas in Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July and The Year Without a Santa Claus? (Of those four, I've only seen the original Frosty). —Scott (talk) 04:51, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure. The cel-animated Santa is distinctly different in design, and they're also different in general personality and plot-function. However, the Rooney Santas are indeed meant to be continuous from Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town, and mostly look alike ( at least, regarding the old Santa in the latter special). But so for that matter does the Frees-voiced one in New Year (and a few years earlier, in a cameo in Here Comes Peter Cottontail, the plot of which involves Peter having to deliver his eggs during other holidays); they may or may not have been refurbished versions of the same figure (unlike the original Rudolph Santa). And none of the above resemble the one used in The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 05:20, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thanks! I just added the Mickey Rooney Santa (Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, The Year Without a Santa Claus and Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July) as the same entry. I'm not sure what to do about the other Paul Frees Santa. I don't have access to pictures of them either. —Scott (talk) 05:50, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
