Chandler must spend Christmas in Tulsa to finish work that needs to be completed before Christmas Day or he will be fired. This makes him miserable for not being able to do so in New York with everyone else. Monica thinks he might have an affair with a former Miss Oklahoma runner-up while he is there. This leads the episode into showing some clips from previous Christmas episodes. Chandler comes home before Christmas Day anyway despite the fact that he could get fired, claims they can't fire him, and announced that it is because he quit his job.
