[edit] Need Your Verdict

Should this page stay or go? I think it should stay, because we also have Rudolph's Shiny New Year, and the only thing that has to do with Christmas is that Santa is in it for a whole 5 minutes. While Happy New Year, Charlie Brown! does not contain any direct aspects of Christmas, it is shown annually on ABC during the Christmas season. Also, I highly doubt there are enough New Year's specials to constitute its own Wiki, so personally I think a page here on this amazing special would not hurt. Thanks for your time and merry Christmas :) Jack5555 15:09, December 24, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sidebar

I saw how you edited the sidebar after JeremyCreek's request. I think that it is a great idea, but to the list of specials, could you add How the Grinch Stole Christmas! beneath A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Merry Madagascar and Yes, Virginia beneath Prep & Landing? The Grinch is a classic along with Charlie Brown, so it deserves a spot there. Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation! and Prep & Landing are new specials this year, and so are Yes, Virginia and Merry Madagascar, so they deserve a spot on the list too. Thanks for yout time! Jack5555 18:08, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] The Town Santa Forgot for the sidebar

I'd like to suggest that we should add the wonderful but underappreciated special The Town Santa Forgot (and, if you can swing it, Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation!) to the "Specials" portion of the sidebar, and Jeremy Creek to the "Characters" portion. Also, since four of the six specials listed in the sidebar are Rankin/Bass productions, I'd also suggest giving them a sublist within the "Specials" list on the sidebar. --JeremyCreek 23:25, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Idea for 2010: Daily Trivia Question

Starting on November 1, 2010 and running until Christmas Day, why don't we run a daily trivia question on the front page.
Example: How many dancers make up the Radio City Music Hall's famous Rockettes Dance Team? For the answer, ((Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring The Rockettes#The Rockettes|Click Here)).
The previous day's answer would also be below the question starting November 2nd such as Answer to Yesterday's Question: Each performance of the ((Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring The Rockettes)) has 36 members of the Rockettes, in rotating squads of two in as many as five performances per day at radio City music Hall, and twice daily on a annual holiday tour.
Would this be a good idea? Please give me feedback. Mouseinphilly 5:21 PM US EST Dec 15 2009.

[edit] Navigation Bar

Hi, I was just wondering if you could change the link on the Navigation bar that says "2008 Christmas Specials" to the link for the "2009 Christmas Specials". Thanks! Jack5555 03:48, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

All set! —Scott (talk) 03:58, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Another thing about unregistered users...

This page is a non-existent special and some unregistered user put a load of junk on. That's kind of why I think it would be beneficial to the community. JACK5555 20:08, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] 2009 Countdown Clock to Christmas and Schedules

When will the Christmas Specials schedules be added for 2009 and how about a countdown clock on the front page? Mouseinphilly 9:26 AM US EST Nov 11 2009

[edit] ABC Family release

Here's a link to ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas schedule for 2009:

[edit] Unregistered Users

Hey, I was wondering, would it be possible to make it that unregistered users cannot make edits? It has been really annoying finding edits that were made by someone that are completely inaccurate. I think this would really benefit the community! Thanks! JACK5555 01:00, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Another vandal

Can you please do something about this anonymous poster who's been vandalizing the wiki lately? Among the things he's been doing is categorizing Angelica Pickles as an episode when anyone can tell you she belongs under "Characters" and putting nonsense on the Merry Nickmas article. And it's really annoying to have to keep undoing his vandalism; can you please ban him so that he can't do it anymore?! --JeremyCreek 18:14, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Rankin Bass

Hi. I was wondering if you knew where I could get pictures of the title screens from Jack Frost, The Stingiest Man In Town, and Santa, Baby!? All the R/B specials have pictures of the title screen except for those. Thanks! Applebuster333 01:04, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vandal

When you get a chance, an anonymous IP (the same one who, under a different number, made similar edits) needs to be blocked, randomly replacing performer names with Muppet puppeteers (I think it's probably that same nut who keeps coming over on Muppet Wiki and randomly altering performers and obscure characters). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 23:37, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

I think we need to have a talk with Stevenson about the main page. I had to go revert the edit he made to it. He's likely a nOOb and has to learn about this stuff. Mouseinphilly 9:04 AM US EDT Aug. 20 2008

[edit] Topper

Hey Scott, in Santa Claus is Comin' to Town there's a character named Topper, a penguin character. He doesn't have any lines but does has a significant role in the. Think an article should be created for him? -- Phillip (talk) 18:43, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Soundtracks?

Hi, Scott! I don't know if you had seen my response to your greeting on my talk page, but I had a bunch of questions for you. Except that now I'm seeing that some of them are being discussed and worked on by you and the rest of the gang, so I'll just ask the one that nobody's brought up yet. (By the way, I'm asking you here because I don't see a Current Events, and I didn't know where else to ask it.) Since you guys were discussing how to cover video releases, I was wondering about soundtrack albums. Quite a few of the Rankin/Bass specials (as well as other cartoons) released soundtrack records in the '60's and '70's, and most of them are quite rare, and some have been released on CD. Can we mention those on the page of the specials, like near the video releases, or is that beyond the scope of this wiki? Thanks, and I love it here! I just wish I had the time and the speed to add a lot to it!

P.S. (From reading farther down the page) I hope you and Danny can help Disney Wiki out! I would love for that to be a great wiki, too! -- Ken (talk) 02:36, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm glad you brought that up -- I'd really like to do an Albums category! I'll go ahead and create a template so you have something to go by. —Scott (talk) 02:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
I just wanted to let you know that I just put a list of soundtracks on my user page, in case you might be working on the corresponding movie or special. I took them from my Goldmine Christmas Record Price Guide by Time Neely, but I'm sure I'll think of some others later.
Also, to totally change the subject, I can think of 3 Christmas-themed Twilight Zones. Do you want a TV series to have its own page, where you'd cover all 3, or do you want each episode to have its own page? -- Ken (talk) 05:50, November 28, 2007 (UTC)
Awesome, I can't wait to see the records! As for TV shows, I've been doing one entry for the show and putting it in category:episodes. —Scott (talk) 05:51, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, me too! And that's just the major LP's between 1948 and 1988. I'm sure there are more lesser-known records with cartoon voices and radio stars out there. I'll be working with Andrew on those. I'm so glad he's here! And then we'll have CD's of stuff from 1983 to the present, so this is going to be cool!
By the way, when do you ever get a chance to sleep? -- Ken (talk) 06:09, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Ha! I sleep from 6am to noon usually :) —Scott (talk) 06:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Delete

When you get a chance, THE END OF CHRISTMAS AS WE KNEW IT needs to be deleted. I took the liberty of blanking it and leaving a note with the anonymous editor; it's not obscene, but I thought it might be wise as a way to gently remind said person that this is not the place for personal essays about what Christmas is or has become, in case they were to feel like elaborating further. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 22:27, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Got, it. Thanks! —Scott (talk) 22:31, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Muppets template

I tried fiddling with Template:Muppets this morning. I added the dates and then organized chronologically, but it looked really messy and confusing -- here's that version. So I thought I'd try some other stuff, and couldn't really get it to work right. The version that's up now is the best I could do.

I think the best would be two columns running down, left-justified. But I'm not smart enough. -- Danny (talk) 15:32, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I like the archived version you linked to. I don't like the long list as it takes up too much space. —Scott (talk) 18:46, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hello Again

Hey, thanks for the warm, albeit unnecessary, welcome! Have I told you yet that you start too many wikis? No? You start too many wikis! But some of them catch my eye, and a Christmas specials wiki sounds particularly fun. I'm still kind of peeved that the Disney wiki turned out to be such a bust. Oh, well. Not like I have the time to commit to it. I'm really glad you're working for Wikia full-time now. That's awesome! -- Peter (talk) 05:01, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! There's no such thing as too many wikis :) Ditto re: DisneyWiki. Now that I'm more involved with Wikia, I'd like to see if I can help them out when I've got some more time to dedicate to it. There's no reason why that can't be just as flourishing and healthy a wiki as Muppet Wiki. —Scott (talk) 05:24, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sysop

Hey Scarecroe, thanks for the welcome. I was wondering if it would be possible that I could be a sysop on the Christmas Specials Wiki? - Phillip (talk) 18:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer, it's great that you're interested! It's pretty early on in the wiki at this point, and I think it's important to focus on content building right now. After you've accumulated a fair amount of contributions to the wiki, maybe we can talk about it again? —Scott (talk) 19:15, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good, thanks! Phillip (talk) 19:21, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rar

Thanks for the welcome! =D Hmm... Scarecroe.... I've seen that name somewhere before. Aren't you a Central Admin or sumfink? Anyway, I'm Guesty-Persony-Thingy, Guesty, GPT... whatevar j00 wanna call meh to that effect. Anyway, sorry I couldn't really make the page that good; I started watching the show last Christmas, didn't get past episode 3. Way to weird for my tastes... but it's a Christmas-related show, so I might as well start an article, eh? Hope to see you around! =D --NOTASTAFF GPT(talk)(eating) 05:28, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, thanks again for adding it... I never would have known! —Scott (talk) 19:15, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sarcastic

Thanks for nothing on "A Lost Claus." I worked hard on that and now you just threw it into the damn toilet of cyberspace. Now, I have to start all over again, NO THANKS TO YOU!! At least tell me why you did this. -- Mouseinphilly 2:40 PM US EST Feb 12 2008

I'm not sure what you mean by starting over. I see that you've already made several edits to the article. —Scott (talk) 19:51, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, but at least you could have PM'd me on my talk about why you made the change. I was just filled with P-and-V (P*** and vinegar) in a blind rage. Mouseinphilly 7:46 PM US EST Feb 12 2008

[edit] New Program Episode Added

I found out this week that there's going to be an episode of the PBS Kids/Kids' CBC series Super WHY! based on "The Night Before Christmas" to air in December, so I added that to the Wikia, and I also added two new items: a "future" tag and a reborn "stub" tag for you for the shorter articles. Feel free to note this to users. Next up will be "spoiler" and "endspoiler" tags to use. Mouseinphilly 9:13 AM US EDT Sept 4 2008

[edit] Best and Worst Christmas Movies

I just posted an idea for next year. After seeing the Best and Worst Christmas Specials ever, I was thinking about the Best and Worst Christmas Movies. Surely It's A Wonderful Life is among the best and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is among the worst. Why not have someone get on top of this, and also include those "slasher films" like Silent Night, Deadly Night in the worsts as well as they desecrate the holiday season. Just getting my $.02 in on the topic, that's all. Mouseinphilly 1;51 PM US EST Dec 22 2008

Hi, I think that's a great idea! You're welcome to start it any time and if it does well, we might decide to promote in next year. —Scott (talk) 19:21, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Started in on my blog and make a link on the front page for suggestions. Mouseinphilly 2:23 PM US EST Dec 22 2008

[edit] Countdown Widget

Do you think it would be possible to have a countdown to Christmas widget added to the front page? I think it would be great just to have a annual reminder of how long it is until the holiday! Mouseinphilly 7:46 PM US EST Dec 25 2008 MERRY CHRISTMAS!
