Violet Gray is a major female character from the newspaper comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. Introduced in the comic in 1951, she is a snobbish young girl who is best friends with Patty and Lucy and frequently bullies Charlie Brown (she sometimes abuses him even worse than Lucy does). Her last name was mentioned in the strip published on April 4, 1953. Unlike Patty, Violet continued to appear frequently in the strip until 1984, with her last appearance being on November 27, 1997.
Appearances in Christmas specials
Violet appears prominently in A Charlie Brown Christmas. At the beginning of the special, Charlie Brown sarcastically thanks her for the Christmas card that she never sent to him. Later on, she, along with Patty and Lucy, berate Charlie Brown for choosing to get a poor-looking Christmas tree.
In It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown tries to sell her a Christmas wreath, but she rejects his sale because it is not Thanksgiving yet. She is later seen walking with Lucy past Snoopy, dressed as Santa Claus.
In I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown tries to get Violet to adopt Spike because Rerun can no longer keep him, but she refuses, saying that she would rather be seen with coyotes than him. She later appears with the other kids in the school Christmas pageant near the end of the special.
